PERCH was designer for a landmark footbridge located in LaPlatte Nature Park in Shelburne, VT. The suspension bridge crosses the LaPlatte River with a single clear span of 68 feet, providing 3 feet of freeboard at high water. At each end is a tower 20 feet in height made from 8×8 timbers, fabricated steel base plates, and a fabricated steel saddle. With no vehicle access to the site, all materials were designed to be transported and installed by human power, including the use of a generator-powered handheld driver to install ground anchors for the towers and the cable backspans. PERCH drafted plans and provided construction phase services. The bridge was completed in fall 2018.
