PERCH evaluated three existing roof structures for excess load carrying capacity to accommodate a 250 kW solar array at the headquarters of a construction company in Waitsfield, VT. Working on behalf of local solar furnisher Aegis Renewable Energy, PERCH analyzed roof purlins, beams, a header beam, perimeter support columns, and connections for adequacy. For components that did not meet requirements, PERCH designed and drafted details to strengthen the components including stronger bolted splice plates for the roof beams.
